Wes Mickel has a background that is 100% food and wine. He began working in the back of house at the age of 15. He then trained at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in Napa Valley, and went on to work in the renowned kitchens of Meadowood Napa Valley and Ad Hoc, before leaving for the Bay Area to work with chef Tyler Florence. An Arkansas native, Mickel decided it was time to head back South and open up a business of his own. He ended up in Austin, TX, where he founded Argus Cidery in 2010. Since then, the cider house has received much local and national acclaim, and is sold in over 15 states.
