Argus Cidery is hosting a preview party at the cider house, debuting their newest fermentable offering, Cherry Vin (soon to be hitting shelves). Guests will be the first to try the 100% cherry fermentable, while Confituras pop-up will be selling their scratch biscuits, jam (including a jam using Cherry Vin) and pastries, until sold out. Cherry Vin will be available at the tasting room and have it available to-go, and tours of the cider house will be given at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Argus Cidery will also be a pick-up location for relief supplies, in conjunction with the Austin Disaster Relief Network and Tito’s Vodka, who will deliver directly to Houston and other affected South Texas regions. Here is a continually updated list of needs from the ADRN.

Celebrate Queen Bey’s birthday with a dance party at Cheer Up Charlie’s that jumps from track from Rihanna and Beyoncé. It’ll take a lot of work, work, work, work, work to decide who runs the world. And it’s up to you to decide.

All day on Labor Day, participating studios across the Austin area will take part in Free Day of Yoga to offer free classes, as an opportunity for people of every age and fitness level to try yoga for the first time, experience a new style of yoga, visit a new studio or take a class from a new instructor, share yoga with friends and family and discover the benefits of yoga.

The day kicks off at 7:30 a.m. at the Whole Foods Lamar Pavilion. The class is presented by Free Day of Yoga director Mary Esther, and they will have goodies to give away.

As part of The ABGB’s epic Fourth Anniversary Party, they are kicking off Labor Day with an “Apple Bomb Jump” competition (named affectionately after Argus Cidery’s newest cider) at Barton Springs Pool, beginning at 11 a.m. sharp. Everyone over 21 is encouraged to invent their take on the Apple Bomb off the diving board. Originality and splash will factor in to the winning jump, which will be judged by Argus Cidery owners Wes and Jeff Mickel, plus The ABGB owner/brewer, Amos Lowe.

The winner will receive a VIP Party for four at the Argus Tasting Room, where they will send the winner home with their arms full of cider. The first 50 divers will get special treatment at an Apple Bomb Party within a party later that day at The ABGB. Entrants must pay their on fee in to Barton Springs, and will meet the crew at the diving board for a chance to make Apple Bomb history.

While not technically in Austin, just 20 miles north in Round Rock, Salt Traders Coastal Cooking is celebrating their one year anniversary. And what better way to do so than with all day happy hour and $1 select oysters! Since opening on September 5, 2016, the STCC team has gone through 71 different varieties of oysters, 248,498 shucked oysters, 11,918 tap cocktails, 5,000 loaves of homemade bread and 235,000 shrimp. Whew! Bubbly and oysters, here we come.
