Some of the funnest things to do in Austin happen just outside of the city limits! Head to Fredericksburg for the city’s annual Food & Wine Festival. Celebrate the delicacies of Texas wine and food all day Saturday.  The festival will be held rain or shine and parking is available. General admission tickets can be purchased at the festival gate. Each ticket includes a souvenir wine glass, six tickets for various wine tastings, music, auctions, and the infamous Gargantuan Great Grape Toss!

Jack Gilmore of Jack Allen’s Kitchen will also be doing a live cooking demonstration. Gilmore will be making Turkey White Bean Chili and Cornbread at the Grape Expectation Cooking School at 12:00pm.

There will also be live music and specialty booths!

Participating wineries and breweries include Armadillo’s Leap Winery, Inwood Estates, Landon Winery, Pedernales Brewing Company, Rahr & Sons Brewing Company, Real Ale Brewing Company. You can check out the full list here.

Head to Boggy Creek Farm if your looking for things to do Austin that involve delicious food, live music, a silent auction and children’s activities!

An extensive list of Austin musicians will perform on the back porch and children can enjoy a Kids Corner for face painting and hands-on activities.  A silent auction will feature an assortment of gardening goodies, movie tickets, restaurant gift cards, and more!

All proceeds benefit Green Corn Project and will help the organization plant organic vegetable gardens for people, schools, and community groups that are in need of access to fresh, good food!

What better way to celebrate National Chocolate Day than with a scoop (or two or three)  from Austin’s finest gelato makers – Dolce Neve!

Throughout October, Dolce Neve ran a limited series of single-origin chocolate flavors. Each week of October featured a different single-origin chocolate in partnership with a renowned chocolatier.  Cocoa lovers looking for things to do in Austin this weekend will find the ultimate indulgence at Dolce Neve. On October 28th, you can experience a gelato flight of all four exclusive flavors, sourced from Washington all the way to the Dominican Republic!
